CHAPTER 2 - SKIP
Skip had been working at the video rental store since he graduated Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Prep High School a little over a year ago. Although very bright, Skip had no immediate plans to go to College. To appease his parents, he took two classes at the local Community College to earn some college credit and keep busy. And he worked part-time at Pyramid Video Rental.
Our Lady of Sorrows was a conservative Catholic high school. It didn't teach any trades - it was strictly geared for College prep, and had one of the highest graduation rates and test scores in the State. But it was not a hotbed of teen student mischief - in fact it had a lot more in common with 1955 than with 1985.
The boys and girls were encouraged to socially mingle, but not too closely. During the slow dances at the school functions the nuns would separate the boys and girls dancing too closely, and ask them to "leave room for the Holy Spirit."
Sex education was taught as part of Religion Class. Sex was taught as a healthy part of a healthy marriage.
